As I see your face

I bow in gratitude for the blessings the Almighty have bestowed upon me,

For in His infinite wisdom knows what I truly feel

It must have been destiny, written in some precise alignment of heavens and stars

That brought me to that place, to that moment, that impressive instant

As all sorrows and tribulations finally gave meaning and dissipate

As I see your face

Like the sun you are, shining like a beacon in the vastness of  space

Your smile glorious

Your eyes fire

Unbeknownst to you, you have brought light into my existence,

Energizing and invigorating feelings that have long held dormant

Unbeknownst to myself, my heart was inadvertently stolen

And I’m forever incomplete,  for you now hold that missing part of me

And just like the sun you are

That when your gone, the cold and darkness is torture

The yearning aching

The emptiness killing

How can you eclipse and fade from what I am certain deep down is true?

Do you not feel my warmth too?

Do you not realise that you are indeed the ONE

The place where I need not look any further

The end where I stop searching

Perhaps I didn't try hard enough

That maybe my words and actions inadequate

That my catalogue of missed opportunities, shortcomings and imperfections

Renders me just a speck

Incapable of competing with the millions of stars that revolve around you

So where does all this leave me now?

Should I hope against hope, forever carrying a torch for you like this?

Should I be grateful for whatever scraps you through my way?

Or should I just give up and return to my solitude.

Yes it may be cold and dark, but at least I’m safe (or so i try to convince myself)

I cant go on like this any longer, for I need a definite answer

Grace me with the words that I long to hear

Or be gentle with you final resolution

Anything! just please don't ignore me like this

So again I bow in gratitude for the blessings the Almighty have bestowed upon me,

For only He who knows what's stirring in me

I pray for the day that your sunlight will once again shine upon me

Like you did exactly one year ago at that place, that time, that instant

And surely then I will get my answer, my fate clearly written in your fiery eyes

As I see your face

As I see your face

As I see your face

Dieselfreak is now 3 years old

3

Three years ago I have launched this blog mainly with aim to share with my friends my DIESEL obsessions and proclivities. And a long the way I have offered glimpses of my personal life, the ranting and raving of a (so call) successful life. I am grateful for all the visits from everyone who stumbled upon this little corner of cyberspace and the feedback/comments given. To Renzo and co i.e. the good guys at Diesel S.p.A , I hope I am not in breach of any copy write protections, hehe… I am but a humble messenger spreading the good word of your ironic and whimsical ideals. Keep designer fabulous clothes and stay at the cutting edge of fashion always.

During the last year, perhaps the biggest achievement of mine is finally taking the plunge and buying a place to call my own. I hope construction will proceed with the minimum of hiccups and that by 2013, i will finally be able to open the door and put out the welcome mat to my ‘astana’.

I have also taken up a more active lifestyle, diligently (and almost religiously) going to the gym to improve my scrawny physique. I have to say that I am happy with the results I see in the mirror thus far. And the complements that I got doesn't hurt either, and further ignite my enthusiasm to do more.

Also, Apart from the countless excursions to my second home (aka Singapore, hehe),  I have made my way to visit Jakarta and Bali for the first time: Modernity and tradition in contrasts. I came back with a feeling that both of our cultures share a rich history and heritage that it would be a shame to throw it all away on mindless and unnecessary misunderstandings. Like the saying goes: kita semua serumpun

Finally, though corny and nerdy as it may sound, embracing FB actually improved my social life tremendously hehe. Far from being cold and anonymous , I have the opportunity of getting to know and meet many new  friends. Going out to town or hitting the clubs is now all the more fun now that the pretence of walking up to strangers is somewhat diminished now that there is this common virtual denominator.

Looking forward into the future I see endless possibilities. Perhaps one of the biggest event next year is the Eurotrip that I am so looking forward to. Cant wait to report to you live from the Diesel Flagship stores in Bond Street and Etienne Marcel. I have a feeling its gonna be tres magnifique! Winking smile

But till then, HAPPY 3RD ANNIVERSARY DIESELFREAK. May success begets success always…

ps: I hope u guys love the new slick layout. Its high time this site needs a refresh

Something from the past, something from the future…

Last weekend, me and some of my closest buds headed off to Singapore to experience the famous ‘Xmas in the Tropics’ at Orchard Road first hand. I must say it didn't disappoint, the throngs of people marvelled at the ‘all decked out‘ decorations, everyone going snappy happy.

With  all the merriment surrounding us, we inadvertently got into the festive spirit, donning our Santa hats, hehe…

 DSC02007

Of course, what is a Singapore escapade without a bit of shopping (the word ‘bit’ here is an understatement, trust me, hehe)… And i have to say, me and my buddies really have an eclectic taste in brands, ranging from the sidewalk to the catwalk. I wouldn't rattle off everything that we bought, except of course for you-know-what brand. Hint hint.

But being Xmas eve, the Diesel stores at Forum (along with all other Club21 stores in the city) was closed by 6pm. All I managed to do is to have a sneak peek of what's inside, huhu… Oh well, like the saying goes: Good things come to those who wait. Little did i know then of what’s in store the following day.…

So on Xmas day at Vivo City, I was sad to discover that apparently the Diesel store is to close by February next year (sob sob). But as a last hurrah, they deciding to go out with a bang by having a fabulous clearance sale on past collections: a staggering 70% off for three items or more!

It is here that my friend Yusof bought is first DIESEL jeans. Congrats mate, welcome to the club!

He is now the proud owner of the made in Italy VIKER 008SI Stretch. Simple gorgeous! Here is a close up…

So later that day, we finally made our way back to Forum. My goal there was to nab a shirt and a T-shirt from the Rockin’ Dots aka the SS2010 preview collection.

DSC02121

While i got those, lo and behold, i found this little thing tucked amongst the new denim collection…

DSC02122

Its the KOOLTER 008ZQ

Gotta have a try…

Lookin’ good, hehe…

Now, before you guys go all ‘Oh no, there goes Dieselfreak… not another pair’, please bear in mind that i never owned a black pair of denim before. So this purchase is entirely justifiable! End.of.story (pause for dramatic effect).

Plus, who can resist this beauty…

So, while the jeans was not part of my initial plan. I am a happy camper nonetheless. Also, the purchase was made all the more sweeter with the exclusive premiums including the Rockin’ Dots rubber band, a pair of foldable speakers and a chance to win a whopping SGD1,000 worth of Diesel swag personally selected by Singapore indie band Electrico. Wish me luck, guys!

ps: Cant wait for my other friend to get herself a pair of Diesel jeans. Don't be shy Wawa, I know you want one, hehe…

Happy B’day Yusof!

The most I can do for my friend is simply to be his friend. I have no wealth to bestow on him. If he knows that I am happy in loving him, he will want no other reward. Is not friendship divine in this?"

Happy Bday Usop! May God bless you with health and fortune always.

15 days to FIERCENESS

Beyonce

Second time lucky, finally Malaysia can play host to Sasha Fierce aka Beyoncé Knowles as part of her I Am… World Tour. Sweet dreams indeed :). The multi platinum, multi Grammy female version of a hustla’ will perform at Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil (which is right in front of my house!) on Sunday 25th October.

Thanks to a good friend of mine, we managed to pay a pretty penny and secure some of the best seats available (Thanks Hazry)

I have been a fan since her DC days, and I must say she couldn't be here soon enough… In the meantime, here are some preview pics from her upcoming concert to whet your appetites.

Buah pauh di tengah bendang
Jadi dagangan di tengah kota
Saudara jauh datang bertandang
Bermaaf-maafan sesama kita

Masak udang dan gulai ketam
Pembasuh mulut kuih keria
Berbunyi mercun berdentum-dentam
Riang gembira di Hari Raya

Sungai disusur sehari-hari
Dalam gelap menangkap ikan
Kami meyusun sepuluh jari
Salah dan silap harap maafkan

Aidilfitri hari kemaafan
Menghapus kesalahan sesama insan
Memupuk perpaduan sesama ehsan
Mengikat tali keakraban

Disisir diandam dengan cekap
Potong rambut pelbagai gaya
Puasa sebulan sudahlah lengkap
Kita menyambut Hari Raya

Adik tersayang segak bergaya
Mengait kuih di atas para
Suasana riang di Hari Raya
Bermaaf-maafan riang gembira

It’s show time!

Malaysia’s most beloved musical is back for a third (and final) season at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur. I have seen it on its first run a few years back and words cannot describe how spectacular the whole production is. Cannot wait to witness the original lead cast: Tiara, Stephen, Adlin and AC reprise their roles one more time this Saturday afternoon!

Happy New Year

new-year

A new year means more than simply hanging up a new calendar. It should be a time of reflection; of learning from past mistakes and gaining strength and wisdom from past experiences. But more importantly, it should be a time for resolution and new beginnings; of turning a new leaf and of planning for the future (albeit so uncertain) with renewed optimism and much rejuvenation.

In this challenging year ahead, DIESELFREAK wishes everyone a happy and most successful two double o' nine!

And the card attached would say thank you for being a friend..."

A big thank you to Yusof for making it all happen, and I hope you enjoy my l'l 'made in italy' token of appreciation. Hehe... anyway, here's wishing that the next 12 months would be bigger, better and more successful for you.
